19 things I learned at 19

Hello again, hope you are doing well right now. So I had my 19th birthday last month and wrote some stuffs on my journal. I thought I just wanted to share it with you. Here goes, (bear in mind this is going to be a long writing)

 ⭐ 19 things I learned at 19 ⭐

1. Getting help is not a sign of weakness.
In terms of health, education and other things, asking for help is totally okay. Ask nicely and            others are actually willing to help, in sha allah.

2. Your health matters, much more than you think.
Have some rest take your medicine when you're not feeling well. Your body needs more care and attention at this state. You might want to push yourself to do certain things that your body can't cope with, but bare in mind, you will get better in time. So rest for now. If you really really need to work, it's alright to do it slowly so you wouldn't get too stressed out.

3. Not all people are bad.
Your loved ones are here for you, they care for you, even if they don't often show it. They want you to be safe and happy. It's okay to rely on them sometimes. You are not a burden. You never are and never will.

4. Do something much earlier than the deadline.
I know you might think of doing *that* important thing later because there's still time. So you might as well relax and chill first right? hahah I've learned this the hard way but dude you gotta start now. Even if it's a small progress. Just start. Getting ahead of your time can prevent mistakes and avoid unnecessary stress. You don't have to follow another person's timing.

5. Being sad is alright.
Your feelings are valid. You don't need to feel guilty of having them. It is normal and it is necessary. Crying is okay. You don't have to pretend being strong all the time.

6. Have proper meals as often as you can.
You only have this one body for your entire life. (unless you're Voldemort or Orochimaru for that matter) Take care of it properly. Have breakfast, eat your fruits and vegetables. It will give you proper energy to get through your day, in sha allah.

7. Progress is an achievement.
What's most important in doing something is the process and your effort. Do not think too much on the outcome, focus more on the process. God will give you the best result, so don't worry. Trust Him.

8. Being the real you is lovely.
Sure, fitting in with everyone else might be easier. But, the world wants to see the real part of you. It is scary. Take your time to show the world who you truly are. Be your own brand, you don't have to be a pirated version of another person.

9. It's okay if you struggle more than others.
God will reward you for every steps you take in doing anything good. He knows you are trying hard, so do it in your own pace, okay? You are you, not anyone else. Each one of us have a different road in life's journey.

10. Worrying means you suffer twice.
Worrying is definitely normal. But, don't let it overpower you, it is there to push yourself to do something so that you can make the situation better. Keep calm and carry on, ok? You can get through whatever you are going through.

11. Take time to know yourself.
Try some small changes in your life. You will discover sides of you that you might not see before. It's interesting to get to know yourself more. Being yourself, is beautiful. It is okay if you haven't figure everything out in your life. It takes time.

12. Other's opinions do not define you.
People might say you're this and this. But it isn't necessarily true. It's just their opinions, It's not a fact. So don't feel too bad if someone say mean stuffs to you. People will always talk about you, no matter what. So you might as well do whatever you want, right? Even the kind Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. have haters.

13. There are other far more important things than romantic love.
Your dreams, your goals, self care, self love ; these are some of the things you should focus on more. I know it's tempting to be loved and adored by a special someone, but sweetheart, God has destined someone for you. Be patient, the time will come. "Love is like an uninvited guest. Love will come when it wants to. Love will leave when you ask more of it." -Haemin Sunim

14. Managing your time wisely is a superpower.
Time is always constant; 24 hours a day. It is up to you to spend it up to its potential. All of us have the same amount of seconds everyday. Time is an investment, it is whether you gain or you lose. Use it wisely. Every second.

15. Slow down, in this busy world of ours.
We live in a time where mostly everything is speedy and fast. Our food, communication, transportation, and so on. Take some time to "free" yourself from this world. Have a breather, calm down and indulge yourself in your surroundings. Relax and chill, the world is not going anywhere.

16. Great things take time.
Everything needs to go through a certain process, and this takes time. Consistency is the key, divide your process into small divisions and do it constantly. Your hard work will pay off.

17. Reduce your screen-usage time.
Most of us can't stay away from our phones. We just can't be separated from it for a while. (I know this doesn't imply to everyone) For me, the time that we use scrolling on social media, just because we "have nothing to do", can be use better in other things. To grow ourselves instead of seeing others and think, "I wish I can be like them.". I know there are a lot of perks of using social media, but like everything, it needs to be balanced.

18. Read, read and read.
It doesn't matter is its fiction, fantasy, history, science etc. Just read! Stay curious and hopefully you can gain new perspectives and knowledge about this world.

19. Be grateful for the little things.
Flowers on the sidewalk, cats, cute stationeries, these are some of the little things that makes me happy. Sure, they might sound ordinary to some. But unconsciously, it is what makes our lives feel much more bearable. They are here for some reasons, even in their little-ness. Alhamdulillah for all of these things.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, even though it is mainly reminders for myself. Thank you. Hope you are having a nice day.

x,
nia.
